Humboldt products earn state, national and even international recognition. Here are a few highlights.

Cypress Grove – Five medals at recent World Cheese Awards - golds for Humboldt Fog, Fog Lights and Natural Fresh Chevre; silvers for Truffle Tremor and Purple Haze. The U.S. Dairy Export Council called their five-medal showing “unprecedented.” website

Desserts on Us – Their Lacey’s Almond and Dark Chocolate Cookies won the gold for Outstanding Cookie at the 2009 Fancy Food Festival in San Francisco. website

Arcata Bay Oyster Festival – Ranked 7th among the world’s top 10 food festivals by Away.com. It attracts over 15,000 people each year. website

Eel River Brewing Company – The nation’s first organic brewery. Recent gold medals include one for California Blonde at the 2009 California State Fair and four at the 2009 Los Angeles International Beer Compeition – for Porter, Amber, IPA and Triple Exultation. website

Lost Coast Brewery – A big list of awards, with the most going to Downtown Brown, which has won medals at the LA County Fair, California State Fair, World Beer Championship and more. website

Mad River Brewing Company – Their awards include gold medals for Steelhead Extra Pale Ale and the big John Barleycorn Barleywine at the Great American Beer Festival. website

Six Rivers Brewery – Two years running as Best Strange Brewery at the Strange Brew Fest, and a People’s Choice Award at the local Hops in Humboldt festival in 2009. Plus many awards for specific brews. website

Moonstone Crossing Winery – A slew of medals at the 2009 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, including golds for Nebbiolo and Dark as Night. website

Riverbend Cellars – Their Syrah earned a silver medal at 2009 Orange County Fair. They are Humboldt’s largest producer of wine from local grapes. website

Cabot Vineyards – 90 points from Robert Parker for 2006 Kimberly’s Syrah, an organic wine made from locally grown grapes. While that’s not technically an award, it’s certainly high praise from the wine world’s most influential voice. website
