This event takes place on April 8th at the Clarke Museum in Old Town Eureka from 6-9. Wander the exhibits of Clarke Museum after hours while sipping and nibbling on Humboldt's Finest and swaying to local cajun band, The Bayou Swamis. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Music Bayou Swamis

The Cajun/Zydeco Dance Band The Bayou Swamis have stolen the funky Zydeco dance beats from the swamps of Louisiana and planted firmly in the marshes of Humboldt County. For over twenty years, they have featured a growing repertoire of Cajun two-steps and Zydeco stomps, and they also swamp up classic swing tunes, country standards and traditional '50s rockers. The Swamis excel at both acoustic and electrified performances. Their music continues to spread the swamp gospel and to keep fans dancing and clapping into the wee hours. The musicians: Randle Lundberg - button accordion, fiddle and vocals David Bradley - acoustic and electric guitar and vocals Jeff Landen - guitar, slide guitar, and vocals Kate Koelmel - triangle, rub board and vocals Marla Joy - bass guitar and vocals Mark Weston - Drums"

Cooper Gulch Common Grounds invites Humboldt Made to be part of Play & Plan Day in Cooper Gulch Park onOctober 1st from 10 - 3:00. This will be a fun day with a diversity of activities and engagements centered on creating a sense of possibility in the Park. We will also share the results of the Cooper Gulch community survey and take the next steps in sussing out what would make Cooper Gulch Park more meaningful and welcoming to the community as a whole. We are offering booth spaces (no electricity) to the first seven HM businesses that respond by contactingconnect@coopergulch.org. Hope to see you at Play & Plan Day on October 1st.

Hummingbird Distribution is looking for businesses who are interested in backhaul opportunities and/or distribution. They are also a good wholesale source for quality, organic dry goods. I've attached their catalog.
Unfortunately, they do not have refrigerated trucks. They only distribute shelf-stable goods. They work with many processors, manufacturers, stores and restaurants from San Francisco to Bellingham, WA. Their primary customer base is natural grocery stores and co-ops.

The Arcata Playhouse and Humboldt Made are teaming up to put on Humboldt’s first ever Fermentation Festival - The Humboldt Fervor Fest!

That’s right. On August 13th we’ll be celebrating all things fermented, cider, kombucha, beer, wine and distilled spirits - oh my, sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi, bread, cheese, and so much more!!

This one-of-a-kind festival celebrates the alchemy behind many of our favorite foods and beverages. The Creamery District streets will be packed with over forty producers, offering samples of their fermented delicacies. In addition to discovering new tastes, there are learning opportunities, demonstrations for those who are interested in fermenting at home and an arts and crafts market with local music to get your dance on.  

All proceeds go to Playhouse Arts to help support their extensive arts and culture programming and to Humboldt Made to support the marketing and branding services they provide our local makers and producers. These two non-profits work tirelessly to create a more creative and sustainable local economy.
